Artwork FAQ's

What You Need to Know about getting your logo on Promotional Products and Clothing
The quality of your printed project begins with your artwork. We recommend camera-ready and digitally produced art for the cleanest, sharpest imprint. Your graphic designer or advertising agency can supply this. In some cases our suppliers will set copy and do light touch-ups at no extra cost.

There are many variables to art requirements. We will attempt to cover the most common ones here. Not sure, we can help and work with your graphic designer as well, Profile Marketing can provide artwork or design services for your layout.

Embroidery
This process requires a “digi” (digitized) file, sometimes referred to as a DST file. If you have had embroidery done previously you may already own a digi file. If not, we are pleased to provide one at a reasonable cost.

Art for digitizing may be supplied in PDF, JPG, TIFF, GIF, BMP formats, with a minimum resolution of 72 dpi.  A good quality scan of your image is sometimes acceptable.

Screen Printing
Artwork for screen printing must be supplied in vector format. EPS, .AI and PS formats are usually acceptable. Fonts must be converted to curves or outlines. Images should be 300DPI or better at the size that they will be printed. Print ready PDF files are sometimes acceptable, but cannot be modified or resized by the screen printer.  JPG files are sometimes acceptable.

**Not acceptable are scans of business cards or brochures, faxes, MS Publisher files, MS Word art.

Solids or half-tones
Solid colours print best, however some suppliers can print good half-tones. Please ask before producing your artwork.

Digital Printing or Direct-to-Garment Printing

Printed Materials, Business Cards, Flyers and Brochures
The requirements for print layout vary with the process used and the specific printer. The following are guidelines only. Please contact us before doing your layout.

Completed art should be supplied in an output ready PDF or .AI format. Fonts must be converted to curves or outlines. Images should be at least 300dpi at print size.

Bleeds require an allowance of at least 1/8” all around. Critical information and images should be 1/8” from the edge of the paper to allow for trim.

Crop marks may or may not be required. Please ask before submitting your files

Catalogues and directories
Catalogues and directories can be submitted in output ready PDF format in single page layout.

CMYK or RBG?
Generally colour layouts should be produced in CMYK.  RBG is rarely used.

Proofs
We highly recommend a proof of your job before production. This applies to print projects as well as promotional products. Most suppliers charge a modest fee for proofs.  Multiple proofs incur an extra charge.
